Celebrating 20 years of music & touring. m-pact formed young, straight out of college back in the summer of 1995, unified by their love of music. Only two years earlier Lou Pearlman had created the Backstreet Boys, and the boy band mold was proving to be musical gold. The founding members of m-pact , though, didn't want to go that route. They didn't want an over-produced sound featuring music they felt no passion about. Instead they wanted their love of the music to come first.
That isn't to say they shy away from pop. Then again, they don't shy away from anything where musical styles are concerned. Their eclectic selections have won them honors in pop, jazz, and R&B categories including Vocal Group of the Year from the LA Music Awards and Artist of the Year from the Seattle Music Awards. Their albums have been highly praised, winning a variety of a cappella awards as well as Best Unsigned Band from Billboard Magazine.
Now based in Los Angeles, the distinguished vocalists of m-pact lend their voices to 20 or 30 films per
year, from Spiderman 3 to High School Musical, and to television programs like Family Guy. As an
ensemble they've performed with such notables as Sheryl Crowe, Boys II Men, and Liza Minelli. And
their jazz credits include performances with Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, and Bobbie McFerrin.
m-pact has racked up plenty of awards, and they're not for using auto-tune. Like many a cappella
aficionados, they take particular pride in the untainted human voice. If the music can't be made using
only six voices, it's not theirs. They strive hard to appeal to everyone, presenting their songs in a
contemporary way regardless of the genre. Their passion for the music and energetic performing style
will surely win over the crowd.
Welcome to the Harvey Auditorium
m-pact for a delightful Sunday afternoon of a cappella music before the Oscar telecast.
